We plan and schedule our photo scanning work carefully to provide a speedy turnaround and minimise the time your collection spends away from home.
Yes. We use large-format A3 and A2 flatbed scanners to scan each album page without removing the photographs. This preserves the position of every image and any accompanying notes, dates or text. No. For large collections, we can organise photographs into groups of 100 and create a dedicated digital folder for each group, making individual photographs easier to find later. If you sort and label your photographs in bundles, we will use your descriptions for the folder names and create abbreviated filenames based on them.
Yes. We can create a second copy of the scanned image and automatically brighten it. In our experience, this is often enough to improve the clarity of a faded photograph while retaining the original scan. More advanced work is also available through our photo enhancement service.
Yes. The scanner can automatically detect text on the back of a photograph and create a separate scanned image of it. For an additional fee, the front and back can be combined into one image—ideal when creating digital photo albums.
We provide an estimate at the beginning of the work. Our estimates have generally remained close to the final cost, and customers frequently mention the reasonableness of our pricing in their Google reviews. Any additional cost is explained and agreed with you in advance.
We operate from Ashtown, Dublin, close to the northern entrances to Phoenix Park and approximately five minutes by car from the Blanchardstown M50 interchange. We also work with customers throughout Ireland using agreed postal or courier arrangements.
Photo scanning is the first of three stages. First, the images are scanned. Next, the digital photographs are organised and favourites selected. Finally, those memories can be brought to life through digital photo frames, Amazon devices, video slideshows or a private family website. Our team can advise you on the most suitable options.

For the absolute safety of precious photographs, the preferred options are to deliver them to our Dublin address or arrange collection by us within a reasonable distance. Additional collection costs apply and are agreed in advance. If neither option is practical, photographs can be sent by post or courier using sturdy packaging and a tracked, appropriately insured service. Absolutely. Phoenix Photo Scanning is based in Ashtown, Dublin, but we welcome customers from Naas, Newbridge and throughout County Kildare, as well as the rest of Ireland.
Whether you have old family photographs, photo albums, 35mm slides or negatives, we can help you preserve those memories in digital format.
You can arrange to deliver your photographs to us in person. Collection may also be available within a reasonable distance for an additional charge, and postal delivery can be discussed where appropriate.

Yes. Phoenix Photo Scanning is based in Dublin and works with customers in North Dublin, South Dublin and throughout Ireland. Where practical, delivery to us or collection by us is preferred for the absolute safety of original photographs. Postal or courier delivery remains available when needed.
Overseas enquiries are welcome. International shipping, insurance, possible customs requirements and the cost of returning originals must be considered individually and agreed before anything is sent.
Keep items dry, supported and unable to move inside a sturdy outer box. Use suitable sleeves, envelopes or dividers, but never attach adhesive directly to an original. Keep any required order clearly labelled and use tracked, appropriately insured delivery. Ask us first about fragile or valuable material.
Yes. We scan individual slides, slide carousels, negative strips and individual film frames. See our slide scanning and negative scanning pages.
Printed photographs are generally scanned at around 600 dpi, while slides and negatives are generally scanned at around 2400 dpi because the originals are much smaller. The most suitable setting can vary with the material and intended use.
Scans are checked and arranged in clearly labelled digital folders. The delivery method and any preferred organisation are agreed with you before work begins, and the physical originals are returned using the agreed arrangements.
Indicative prices for loose, pre-sorted photographs are €150 for 500, €275 for 1,000 and €500 for 2,000. Slide and negative scanning prices vary by quantity, starting at €0.85 per image for smaller orders, with lower rates for larger quantities.
